A Note from Blake Thompson, Haiti Relief Trip 2010
I was SO affected by what I witnessed and how we were able to help during my first trip to Haiti following the earthquake, that I am now leading a team of 10 into Haiti on Monday, March 22- Saturday, March 27. I am taking a Physician Assistant, a Nurse Anesthetists and an ENT just to work in clinics full time. I am also taking a female children’s minister to work in some orphanages needing major help & to do some VBS type stuff in the “tent cities” for the kids. Plus there will be 5 strong guys w/ me who will be working non stop setting up tents, water wells, in ground bathrooms, etc. on some land 16 miles out of town to bring families to until the city is ready for their return. We are currently working on getting tents donated/shipped over by the time we arrive because of the rainy season that is about to start in March. This will be a disaster on top of the disaster, due to the fact that all the people are currently using bed sheets as cover. Imagine babies/kids sleeping on concrete under a sheet when it starts raining the entire month of March/April/May. Financial donations are my number one need right now and it is the thing that will make the biggest impact on our mission.
Remember…donations are tax deductible and if you give before February 28, 2010…it can be claimed on your 2009 taxes since it’s for Haiti Relief!!!!!
Thanks for any consideration!
Here are a couple of links to show you a few videos I edited from my first trip. Please ignore the shaky camera work; I was using a hand held flip cam out the window of a vehicle on the world’s worst roads. I have also included an amazing story from the first trip of something God used us to do. Please read this story and share w/ whom ever needs to hear it.
